Beta Chronicles
The duo Beta Chronicles, with OSR violinist Guillaume Jacot and
Jean-Noël on electric bass, brings classical repertoire to life in a fresh, unexpected way. Two distinct instruments converse in delicate harmony, weaving melodies shaped by improvisation and subtle electronic textures and loops. From Bizet to Ysaye, de Falla to Pastorius, their reinterpretations create a singular sound world where tradition and innovation meet.
They are currently working on new repertoire in collaboration with the OSR and La Cité Bleue for a children’s performance blending music and circus, planned for summer 2027. More information coming soon.
Jean-Noël Gos
Long-time friends, Guillaume and Jean-Noël first met through their shared passion for music and circus. Since their teenage years, they have been involved in various projects together and continue to inspire one another to this day. As early as 2018, the first fragments of the Beta Chronicles project began to emerge, when they challenged themselves to adapt a work from the great violin repertoire—Eugène Ysaÿe’s Sonata No. 4 in E minor, Op. 27—by adding bass so they could perform it together.
The result was surprising, and over the following years Jean-Noël arranged the different pieces that would form this project. The fusion of classical music, electronic elements, and jazz gives rise to innovative arrangements that pay tribute to their musical journeys. Jean-Noël chose this program for his Master’s recital in 2022. The project was met with great enthusiasm, and they then promised themselves to develop it.
